Introduction

This proposal is for the creation of a short spec commercial (30s) + stills.

This portfolio work is intended to showcase the creative vision of the photographer and skills of the athlete. The quality of the spec will be designed to appeal to potential athletic and outdoor apparel companies, advertising agencies, and other heath and wellness brands.

Brief

Produce a short spec commercial (30s) featuring an avid trail runner navigating a moody, atmospheric forest. Stills + motion.

Set against the backdrop of a hauntingly stark woods, we follow the trail runner as he/she quickly and deftly navigates the many rocks, roots, streams and other hazards found in this beautiful landscape. Pushing faster and harder than any run before, the video ends with the trail runner finding elation at achieving an ultimate runner’s high.

Goals

• Create an incredible video showcasing the athlete in a lonely, forested environment.

• Showcase the athlete experiencing the runner high that comes from max effort.

• Transport the audience through cinematic compositions, sound design, and high-energy editing.

• Highlight the talents of the athlete in a stylistic yet realistic manner.

• Complimentary stills using similar cinematic style as video.

Participation

As a spec/test shoot, this is a self-financed production. Accordingly, all participants are committing their time and service with no expectation of financial compensation. All participants will have access to use and promote the final product upon completion and delivery by the photographer.

My Commitment

As a new transplant to the Atlanta area, I’m eager to create a new body of work and develop strong relationships in the ATL commercial photography & filmmaking community. I have been a commercial photographer for 10 years and have a strong portfolio of work. My commitment to everyone I work with is to always bring my full creative effort to every project.

I only take on projects that align with my core values. I believe this is the special sauce required for me to bring something intangible to the project. It’s that degree of passion and purpose that is necessary to make the best possible art.

We believe in science and in following the advice of epidemiologists regarding limiting the spread of Covid-19.

We will maintain high standards during any production and expect all participants to comply.

Pre-Production:

• Castings will be done remotely via agency submissions.

• Talent will be contacted the day before they need to be on set to confirm health and availability.

• Shoots will take place outdoors only.

• ONLY essential personnel will be allowed on location.

Shoot Day:

• Everyone on the call sheet will have specific arrival times and will be checked in accordingly. This will involve temperature checks, a health questionnaire sign off, and liability waivers.

• Talent and Crew will travel in separate transportation.

• We request that everyone bring their own PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to set. However, we have acquired extra masks that we can provide to anyone that needs them.

• Hand Sanitizer will be available on set to make sure everyone is able to safely sanitize throughout the shoot.

• Assistants will be the only ones with the ability to handle grip and equipment.

• Any Makeup Artist and Stylists (if needed) will be required to provide PPE for themselves. Precautions include but are not limited to:

  • Only one talent in the makeup/stylist area at a time.

  • Separate kits for each talent.

  • Disposable Applicators.

  • Full face shield worn by Stylist and HMUA during application.

  • Each department will be in charge of cleaning and disinfecting their equipment each day.

• We will provide basic individually wrapped snacks, waters, and cold brew coffee but since we won’t have a typical refreshments table please make sure to bring anything that will help you stay energized throughout the day.

  We understand these are lengthy and somewhat stern precautions, but our highest priority is the safety of everyone on set and our loved ones when we return home. As we all know, each and every shoot is different. We will do everything in our power to adjust each production to fit those needs while also staying safe and healthy.
